How Corporate Dragon organizational
development programs work

Corporate Dragon"s programs can be completed over a few months ("Get on Board") or many months ("Go the Distance") depending on your start date. The longer program offers a more in-depth approach comprising additional tools.

  1. in-depth information gathering through interviews,     questionnaires and conversations.
  2. powerful, effective learning tools that target the most common     issues that stand in the way of team success and satisfaction.
  3. an innovative way of incorporating these tools with dragon     boating to produce amazing results.

The Montreal office of a leading national firm came to Corporate Dragon to help solve their workplace tendency to work independently rather than collaboratively. The group of 40 employees was organized in two distinct dragon boat crews with an even distribution of physical skills, workplace position and roles.

An initial needs assessment revealed an 83 per cent concern about issues of trust building and communication skills. Corporate Dragon educators and facilitators led and observed a 90-minute introductory training and development session in the boat. During that time, three races took place: the same team won all three races.

Post-event discussion and analysis with all employees showed that the winning crew had a team spirit that resulted in the first win; their synergy helped them realize their subsequent wins. Additionally, this crew chose a team name, which demonstrated their spirit. The team members who didn’t win the races commented on each other’s poor performance. They also noticed how their competitors talked to and encouraged one another.

By bringing many of these issues to the surface, Corporate Dragon helped all participants to leave with a greater sense of being able to work together as a result of their dragon boat experience.
